Shirley’s resto opens new Susupe branch
An estimated 100 people witnessed the grand opening of the new Shirley’s Restaurant and Coffee Shop in Susupe yesterday afternoon, with the festivities giving credit to the woman who started it all, Shirley Lai..
Accompanied by her son, Shirley’s Guam executive vice president Richard Lai, a gracious Shirley Lai led guests in the ribbon cutting ceremony that included Saipan Mayor Juan B. Tudela, Shirley’s Saipan’s Susan Macario, and Maro de la Torre.
Saipan Chamber of Commerce president Alex Sablan thanked the Dynamic Core Group, which operates the Shirley’s restaurants on Saipan, saying that, by opening up a branch in the area, it brought much-needed upgrading into the image of the location.
Other notable guests who showed up to grace the occasion were Rep. Oscar M. Babauta, SCC’s Sablan, Marianas Visitors Authority board chair Dave Sablan, Philippine consul general Wilfredo Maximo, Philippine consul Wenceslao Gayola, Tan Holdings Corp. executive vice president Jerry Tan, Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands chair Lynn Knight, and Rotary Club of Saipan president Harry Blalock, among others.
The event was capped by the setting off of firecrackers and a dragon dance performed by members of the Chinese Association of Saipan. Guests were later treated to a sumptuous buffet that was prepared exclusively by Shirley’s staff for the special occasion.
