Spring break postpones Rocball finals
With Marianas High School still observing spring break, the best-of-five championship series in the World Organized Rocball High School League will have to wait until classes resume on Monday, April 4, giving SKN and Mwaliyas another week to finalize strategies.
This according to Rocball creator Jim Feger, who said yesterday that the weeklong break would give players from both sides extra training time and their respective brain thrusts more time to prepare for the coveted championship.
SKN enters the finals as the favorites, posting the best regular season win-loss card, 5-2, and also beating opponent Mwaliyas twice.
With the league-best record, SKN earned the first ticket to the championship series.
For their part, the Mwaliyas players finished in a three-way tie with Bwibwi and Ochobu with 3-4 records. After Ochobu eliminated Bwibwi in the first playoff action, Mwaliyas secured the final championship series slot by beating Ochobu last Tuesday.
Feger, who created the sport in 1979, also disclosed that the WOR Community League would resume on Tuesday, April 5, at 7pm.
Teams competing for supremacy are two-time defending champion Ghasias Brothers, powerhouse Shag, Just One, Chuukanos, and North Stars.
Games for both leagues are played at the MHS Gymnasium.
