Contributors to wheelchair drive recognized
The 8th Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council recently adopted a series of resolutions commending several local luminaries for their generous contributions in obtaining and distributing 700 wheelchairs from the California Wheelchair Foundation in Danville to the residents of the CNMI, Kosrae and the Marshall Islands.
Those commended for their in-kind and monetary assistance included Paul Trombetta, general manager, Pacific Amusements Inc.; Tony Mosley, general manager, Verizon Micronesia; William S. Curry, president, South Pacific Environmental, Saipan; Marian Aldan-Pierce, president, Duty Free Shoppers Galleria, Saipan; members, Rotary Club of Saipan; and Mike Schadeck, general manager, East West Rental of Saipan.
The generous contributions of these CNMI residents boosted the efforts of David Ayres and Robert Erickson, Northern Marianas College-University Center for Excellence on Developmental Disability, in obtaining the 700 wheelchairs from the California Wheelchairs Foundation and distributing these equipment to the residents of the CNMI, Kosrae and the Marshalls.
“The members of the municipal council and the people of the CNMI are extremely gratified of the generous monetary and in-kind contributions of Trombetta, Mosley, Curry, Aldan-Pierce, Rotary Club of Saipan, and Schadeck, and wish them continued business success,” part of the resolution reads.
The resolutions were certified by municipal council chair Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero and vice chair David A. Indalecio and attested by secretary Antonia M. Tudela.
The California Wheelchair Foundation in Danville has established a goal to give a wheelchair to anyone in the world who needs one.
