The U.S. Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team from Guam will be on Tinian to detonate World War II unexploded ordnance on Friday, April 15, from 1pm to 4pm.

The Department of Public Safety and the Emergency Management Office said in a statement that the detonation will take place at the Tinian Pina Quarry Pit, specifically located at latitude 15 degrees 00 minutes 09.3 seconds north and longitude 145 degrees 39 minutes 09.1 seconds east and 5,000 feet above sea level on all quadrants.

Due to the danger imposed by this activity, DPS and EMO are advising the public, especially tour operators, farmers, joggers, fishermen and commercial pilots, to stay at least 1.5 miles away from the area during the time and date indicated.

“The cooperation and understanding of the general public is greatly appreciated,” the agencies said.
