The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. said a rupture on a main water pipe was the reason behind the water disruption in six locations on Saipan yesterday morning.

Water interruptions occurred in six separate locales from 6am to 7am, namely Beach Road north toward Garapan, Chalan Laulau, San Jose, Oleai, Chalan Monsignor Road, and parts of Chalan Kiya

CUC said depending on the condition of the rupture, it would likely to be fixed by today and customers could once again enjoy normal water distribution.

Approximately 100,000 gallons of water was lost for a short time around 5:30am yesterday. Water spooled out from the road and grass areas along the pipeline that runs along Chalan Monsignor Road in As Terlaje.

The CUC’s Water Division worked on the problem immediately and diverted the water up to the Northern Marianas College Reservoir. (PR)
