Roundhouse to host Duel
Two days from now, 10 fighters will put on the tape and lace up the gloves at the Garapan Roundhouse, as Guam-based entertainment company LEO-ANG International Entertainment Group in association with Pacific Trading Company will be holding an International Non-Title Bout Invitational Boxing event called the “Duel of Boxers”.
On April 21, the central facility of the Garapan Central Park will be the venue for the parade of pugilists at 7pm, as various international boxing contenders and local scrappers walk the walk inside the squared circle.
Aside from three undercard matches, the Duel will feature a double main event featuring what Saipan promoter Al Taitano called “the most rated protagonist and renowned fighter formerly from the Philippines, and now ‘Tinian’s Pride’ Bert ‘The Crusher’ Cano.”
Cano, will go toe to toe in a 10-round contest with the No. 1-ranked IBF Featherweight boxer from the Philippines Robert Dalisay. In Cano’s 41 fights, the potent puncher has posted a record of 33-6-2 with 16 knockouts, and he looks to add another notch to the win column.
The second half of the main event will be an eight round brawl dubbed the “The Friendly Fight” between Errol Alegre of Guam and Loloy Gonzales of the Philippines.
According to Taitano, a portion of the proceeds will go to the boxers of the CNMI, Crime Stoppers, and the Rota Little League Baseball Association.
“We want to find out what the level of interest in the fights. Make a plan to come down and witness this. We’ve been selling out the tickets, and I’m encouraging everyone to come down,” said Taitano.
