For the first time in the history of Saipan boxing, two title bouts will be in store for fans, as Leo-An International Entertainment this month brings to the island Saipan Boxing Battle of Champions on Memorial Day.

According to organizers, the follow up to the Duel of Boxers will be held on May 29 at the Garapan Central Park Roundhouse.

All in attendance will witness two main events, spiced up by four amateur bouts serving as appetizers.

The first main event is a 10-round bout in the 122-lb. class between topnotch fighters from the Philippines.

“The Saipan Champion 2005 belt, which is equivalent to a bantamweight rank, will be presented to the winner of the bout,” said local promoter Mario Aquilo.

Meanwhile, the second title fight is also set for 10 rounds in the 140-lb class between fighters from South Korea and the Philippines.

The winner of the fight, according to Aquilo, will take home the 2005 Saipan Great Match Champion belt, which is equivalent to a junior lightweight rank.

Tickets for admission can be purchased for $20 and outdoors prices will be given to the viewers.

Last April 22, Tinian’s adopted son Bert “The Puncher” Cano defeated Robert Dalisay of the Philippines in the main event of the Duel of Boxers, also organizer by Leo-An International Entertainment. Four other fights were witnessed pitting fighters from Saipan, Guam, the Philippines, and Tinian.

“[Leo-An International Entertainment] is once again holding a boxing event to give highlights, glamour, and fun to our avid boxing funs on Memorial Day,” Aquilo said. “Please come see this great event.”
