STA players vow to make splash in Tinian tennis fest
Saipan Tennis Association president Roy Pangelinan will lead a 13-man delegation to the 2005 San Jose Fiesta Tennis Tournament set for this weekend on Tinian.
The netfest is being organized by the Tinian Tennis Association, with help from the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs in Tinian.
The three-day tourney, which starts Friday and conclude Monday, would be held at the Tinian Youth Center tennis courts.
The Saipan players, however, would only play in the Saturday and Sunday dates of the competition since most have work on Friday.
Joining Pangelinan in the ferry trip to Tinian on Saturday are Nelia Luna, Ricky Castro, Richard Asuncion, Feel Kalen, husband and wife Nanding and Ayumi Cajigan, Father Ryan Jimenez, Lucita Pasana, Lenny Panteleon, Leriza Debrum, and B.J. Mendoza.
Luna, who serves as vice president-internal of STA, said they will be making the trip to Tinian to show support and appreciation to tennis players across the strait because in the past “They have also been supportive in joining our tournaments here on Saipan.”
The 2005 San Jose Fiesta Tennis Tournament was originally schedule last week but was postponed to allow STA’s 2nd Annual Toyota Tennis Tournament to wind down.
Events up for grabs in the tourney are men’s and women’s doubles 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0, men’s and women’s singles 2.0, 3.0, and 4.0, and mixed doubles 2.0 and 3.0.
Entry fee is $15 with free T-shirt for the first entry and $10 for the second. Entry forms are available at the DCCA office, Youth Center, and from any of the TTA officers and members.
Draws for the events will be posted at the Tinian Youth Center court on May 5, 2005.
The TTA with its officers and members would like to thank 10th Tinian Municipal Council chairman Edwin P. Aldan for providing the trophies and generous donors from our business community.
