Thank God Babauta is no Bush
John S. DelRasario in a letter to the editor noted that Gov. Juan Babauta was trying to align himself with the “popularity of President Bush,” noting that Babauta is no Bush, he is more like Bill Clinton. My two thoughts are: what Bush popularity, and thank God Babauta is no Bush. In a nation-wide approval rating poll released Sunday, Bush’s job approval rating sank to a dismal 46 percent. As The Onion so succinctly put it upon the end of Clinton’s tenure in office, “Nation’s long national nightmare of peace and prosperity comes to an end.”
Perhaps if Babauta learns to butcher the English language, cut the taxes of only the richest 1 percent of the CNMI, launches an invasion of the Northern Islands on trumped-up grounds that maybe the hermit crabs have claws of mass destruction, and then breaks apart the families of a number of DPS officers to “keep the peace there”—all done while borrowing money to pass off a multi-billion dollar debt to the future grandchildren of the CNMI, Babauta can be more Bush like. Until then, I’ll be grateful he isn’t.
