The Rota Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps Buck Battalion ceremonially relinquished the duties and responsibilities of the Buck’s top leadership position on May 19 at the Rota Roundhouse.

During the ceremony, cadet Lt. Col. Queenie Ayuyu passed the leadership baton to cadet Lt. Col. Edwin Orilla in preparation for next school year, 2005-2006.

Passing on the battalion flag between the two battalion commanders was the buck’s school principal, Matthew Ooka, who congratulated Orilla for his selection to the top and prestigious position as the new Buck Battalion commander

Ooka also lauded and praised Ayuyu for the many outstanding accomplishments and contributions provided by the Buck Battalion to both the school and the Rota community under her watch.

He also gave thanks to senior army instructor SGM Herman Atalig, MSG Herman Apatang, and Ivan Mereb for their continuing dedication, commitment, and hard work extended to the program.

As a surprise presentation, Atalig, his cadre staff, and Ayuyu presented a plague of appreciation to Ooka for his continued outstanding support for the Rota Buck. Atalig and his cadre staff also presented a plaque of appreciation to Ayuyu for a job well done during her tenure as the Buck Battalion commander.
