The Oleai Elementary School held its commencement ceremony Tuesday night, with Mary Quiatchon receiving the Commissioner’s Award to lead the pack of 70 graduates.

In her valedictory speech, Quiatchon quoted the legendary Malcom X: “Without education, you’re not going anywhere in this world,” urging the graduates to work hard and complete their education.

“No matter how hard the challenge you may face, never give up. This is our night to shine, the night that we will be rewarded for our hard work,” she added.

Graduating with the second highest honor in her class, Jaynine Parico received the Principal’s Award. Parico also took the stage to extend her appreciation to her family and teachers for their support.

“Everyone of us after this ceremony will be looking for those that we love, will miss, and those that have inspired us. Let’s not forget to say thank you to them,” she said. “We all have dreams and fulfillments we want to achieve, let’s all strive for the better and make our dreams a reality. Remember, with determination and effort comes success.”

Principal Celina Romolor-Route commended the 70 graduates for their hard work and the accomplishments they achieved in OES.

Some members of the graduating class were also conferred the citizenship award, perfect attendance, A-average award, bilingual award, athlete award, leadership award, and honorable mention, among others.
