Budweiser Cup, Rotary meetings set
League officials of the upcoming BANMI Bud-weiser Cup announced that a mandatory meeting would be held tomorrow at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium conference room.
The meeting will begin at 5:30pm and all interested teams must have a representative, as important issues will be discussed.
Among the issues are the $900 entrance fee, rules and regulations, and uniforms.
League official Elias Rangamar also disclosed that all teams must pay the entrance fee by June 24, with the league kicking off on June 29.
“We going with the no pay-no play rule,” Rangamar said. “We got to get this going, and we’ll start with whatever number of teams we have.”
Returning to defend their crown is two-time champion Toyota, which will be competing against Ol’Aces II, Nissan Titans, and Wells Fargo.
BANMI 25-and-under Basketball League powerhouse SaipanCell-NMC Hoopaholics, 69ers, and Bud Kings may also compete in the league, as well as a team to be formed by veteran scoring machine Dave Sablan.
Meanwhile, organizers of the Saipan Rotary Summer Youth Basketball League is reminding all teams interested in competing this season that a mandatory meeting will be held at 4pm on June 20 at the Ada Gym conference room.
Rangamar said all required documents—age verification and waiver forms—and the $100 entrance fee are due during the meeting and that the schedule for the regular season will be issued.
Entrance fee paid via check must be made payable to the Division of Sports and Recreation, which will be heading the organizing responsibilities of the league.
Age verification documents may be copies of birth certificates, passports, or driver’s licenses.
