Man allegedly stabs child in the back
Police arrested a man Monday for allegedly beating up and stabbing a child with a knife in Chalan Kanoa sometime last week.
A portion of the blade measuring nearly two inches got stuck in the victim’s spine. The child, whose identity police did not disclose, had to undergo medical treatment.
The Superior Court imposed a $60,000 bail on Isman N. Bokuku, who faces charges of assault and battery, aggravated assault, assault with a dangerous weapon and disturbing the peace.
Bokuku’s arrest came following the issuance of an arrest warrant against him by Judge Kenneth Govendo, who ordered the defendant to stay away from the victim’s residence.
Govendo also ordered the confiscation of Bokuku’s travel documents, initially imposing a $30,000 bail. The court later raised the bail amount to $60,000.
Based on an affidavit submitted to court, police detective Vicente Babauta said the child was riding his bike and was on his way home Tuesday last week when Bokuku stopped the victim across the Maxim store in Chalan Kanoa.
Bokuku allegedly grabbed the victim, punched the latter several times on the forehead and then pulled out a knife from his pocket. While the child was on the ground, Bokuku allegedly stabbed the victim’s back.
