Korean performers to light up stage tonight and tomorrow
More than 200 performers will take center stage tonight and tomorrow night for a free concert that complements the Liberation Day festivities in the CNMI.
P’Art Music Academy art manager Jun Ho Park said the performers will include a traditional Korean dance troupe, a modern dance group, an orchestra, and taekwondo athletes.
Park said the show is for free and he is inviting as many community members as possible to watch this once-in-a-lifetime concert.
Tonight’s show will be held at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe and tomorrow at the American Memorial Park in Garapan. Both shows will start at 7:30pm.
Park said his group has been doing this for 10 years now. He said they are bringing Korean cultural and folk dances to the island to introduce Korean culture to the local people and all other Saipan residents, as well as to provide entertainment to Koreans living on island
He said that giveaways would be given to the audience during the shows. Some of the prizes at stake are airline tickets and electronic appliances.
Held every 4th of July, Liberation Day is a national holiday first observed in the CNMI in 1977. This year, the CNMI marks the 59th anniversary of the islands’ Liberation Day with the theme “Liberty, Peace, and Freedom.”
Performing Koreans tonight and tomorrow are members from the Jeollabuk-do Branch office Korean Dance Association, Inc., Jeollabuk-do Branch office Korean Traditional Music Association, Inc., Je-ju Chamber Orchestra, Shon Jeong-ja Dance Team and Gumyare Samulnori Team.
