CFL officials to meet again
With the opening kick off just about two months away, organizers of the Commonwealth Football League are continuing the road to topnotch touchdowns by meeting this week to discuss a range of issues from venue to vendors for the upcoming season.
While the idea is to move the gridiron gladiators to the new digs at the Oleai Sports Complex, CFL board chairman Clyde Lemons and league officials are still working on the details for moving its home games from the spacious surroundings of the CPA Airport Football Field to a more centralized facility.
Adding to the excitement for the 2005 season is the chance that Saipan may not be the only island in the Commonwealth to host football games, as plans continue to march the monsters of the Marianas across the channel to Tinian.
Team representatives, league officials, and those interested in forming football teams are invited to join the CFL board meeting this Wednesday, July 6, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post on Beach Road at 6pm.
While it will still be a matter of weeks before the season gets underway, it is imperative that all interested parties attend the meeting to ensure the timely commencement of the proposed Saturday, Sept. 10, opening day.
