Members of the E Company 100th BN 442d IN, to which most of the CNMI reservists belong to, were recently given the Army Achievement awards that they had earned for their outstanding performance during their training.

Capt. Franklin R. Babauta, Company Commander for Company E, said that almost all the members of Echo Company received an award for their exceptional service and outstanding performance during the mobilization period before deploying to Iraq.

Members of the company reported to Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, in August 2004 for their initial mobilization. During this period, the unit went through rigorous Soldiers Readiness Process, Warrior Tasks Skill Tests, and qualified for different types of weapons.

In October 2004, the unit reported to their mobilization station in Fort Bliss, Texas. The unit conducted a lot of Field Tactical Operations training ranging from squad to company level operations.

The members of E Company said they will never forget the cold weather, in which a lot of the members experienced for the first time.

The members enjoyed their time and took all the training seriously as they prepared themselves for their Final Readiness Evaluation Exercise at the Joint Readiness Training Center in Fort Polk, Louisiana.

The troops were recently given their awards, after waiting for all their awards to be reviewed and approved by Babauta. The troops said they are happy to receive their awards and continue to do their best in their mission assignment in Iraq. (Capt. Franklin R. Babauta)
