Despite a number of members and board members traveling off-island, the Saipan Fisherman’s Association is continuing its smooth sailing toward the 21st Annual International Fishing Tournament by fielding more solicitation offers from local businesses.

Much like the historic tournament that saw thousands of pounds of marlin, wahoo, mahi mahi, and yellow fin tuna weighed in upon the massive scale at the Smiling Cove Marina, this year’s tournament will be well supported as the list of sponsors grows to match the 2004 campaign.

While organizers are currently refraining from releasing all of the details, they promise another edition of the angling classic that left people grinning from gill to gill last August.

The only aspect of the group’s voyage that was knocked off course by the traveling members was its recent meeting schedule, which has been postponed until next week by Gene Weaver, who will set both the time and date of the next meeting.

Weaver said that, in the meantime, Martin Duenas of the Marianas Visitors Authority will handle any contributions and pledges.

Weaver also reminds all members that also make sure that camera ready ads are to be submitted at the same time, should be in before Wednesday, Aug. 12. Any ads submitted thereafter will not be included in the booklet.
