The CNMI Speedball 3-Man Paintball Tournament will return to Saipan shores this Sunday, Aug. 31, as Rueters Raiders Extreme Paintball is expecting to host 10 teams at the extreme sport company’s facility in As Matuis.

Owner Michael Rueters said he already received confirmation from at least 10 teams, including two teams from Hardcore Paintball, SS Ghost Company, Team Recon, Young Guns, Team Chaos, a team from I-Connect, and a team from Tinian, which held the last edition of the paintball classic.

Like the previous months, matches would have durations of seven minutes each. Teams would be awarded points for certain objectives they achieve throughout the course of the game.

For instance, teams are given three points per survivor, seven points for eliminations, 20 points for flag captures, and 50 points and the win for raising the opposing team’s flag on their own flagpole.

Participating teams will play four matches each with the team with the highest score after four matches winning the tournament. In the case of a tie, both teams will play a sudden-death match to determine the winner.

Rueters Raiders Extreme Paintball provides the paint markers, protective goggles, and carbon dioxide canisters, to propel the paintballs, for a fee for all the participants.

Interested parties can play seven-minute matches for $10 a game if a team has equipment.

But unlike the first two events, Rueters said his company would now be charging $10 for the use of the paint markers, $6.50 for every 100 rounds of paintball, and a $5 one-time fee for the CO2 canisters.

Participants are advised to come in proper clothing—hiking, running, or tennis shoes are ideal—since players will be doing a lot of running, and long pants—to avoid getting scratches from the thick foliage.

As an added bonus, Rueters said they have added netting in the seating area for spectators allowing friends and supporters of teams to watch the proceedings in relative safety.

Rueters Raiders Extreme Paintball opened more than a year ago. The company is open only on weekends and could also accommodate reservations.
