Visitors Channel up for fresh programming

In case you were surfing through the different channels on your boob tube and you have not noticed that the Visitors Channel has been showing you different and brand new programs, better stay tuned and check them out.

The Saipan Visitors Channel launched fresh programming starting Monday this week, according to media consultant Andy Tidwell. The show, he said, is aimed at visitors would be a lively mixture of tourist attractions and vignettes of local culture and lifestyle in the CNMI.

Laurie Peterka, vice president of the Visitors Channel, said the station management and staff are very excited with their new programming and our ongoing changes. “Our commitment to the visitor market remains strong and it’s exciting to be moving in a positive direction,” he said.

Peterka said the Visitors Channel, as an organization, is very thrilled to be leading the way as it heads into the next phase of tourism here on Saipan.

The Visitors Channel has recently acquired a brand new studio and filming equipment, said Tidwell. He said the new equipment would allow the station to make changes to the programming more regularly.

Tidwell said the Visitors Channel will also be launching a new website to make its online run on October 1. He said one of the many highlights of the website will be the ability of online guests to access the Visitors Channel programming now via the web that would allow the visitors to learn more about the islands in the CNMI that they will be visiting before they leave their respective homes.

Peterka said the Visitors Channel has been able to utilize the skills and talents of new graduates of the Northern Marianas College’s Film Department. “There are some very talented people here and we are excited to support the local businesses and to employ local talents, ” said Peterka.

The Visitors Channel currently runs on channel 3 on MCV cable network television.
