The Northern Marianas College Volunteer’s Club recently experienced just one of the many aspects of the tourism industry. A total of 18 students joined the Marianas Visitors Authority at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort for an MVA presentation and a short lesson on golf. Although the students were excited about golf, the MVA started the morning with a presentation on MVA’s role as the Government entity that promotes tourism in the CNMI.

“The students were able to learn first hand the important role the MVA plays offshore in effectively marketing the CNMI and lecturing on the importance of on-island events and activities to this industry,” stated Vicky Benavente, MVA managing director.

Their itinerary included a bus transfer to the LaoLao Bay Golf Resort followed by the MVA presentation, and then a short lesson on golf and ending with lunch at the resort.

The students were very amazed by the surroundings of the resort. Most have not played golf but have experienced miniature golf. (PR)
