Municipal Council lauds Junior All-Stars
The 8th Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council has adopted a resolution, respectfully recognizing, congratulating, and commending the 2005 CNMI All Stars Junior Little League for bagging the 2005 Asia-Pacific Regional Junior Little League Baseball Tournament championship held at the Tinian Municipal Ballfield last July 14.
According to the resolution, the 2005 Asia-Pacific Regional Little League Baseball Tournament was held at the Tinian Municipal Ballfield from Saturday, July 9, 2005 through Thursday, July 14.
The 2005 Asia-Pacific Regional Junior Little League Baseball Tournament in the Pacific Pool consisted of all-star teams from the Territory of Guam, the Republic of the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.
The resolution also stated that the 2005 CNMI All-Star team consisted of Vicente Cabrera Jr., Juan T. Iguel, Marley N. Techur, Ryan Ada, Jonathan Salas, Zachary Flores, Benedicto Taisacan, Isaiah Wabol, Anthony Dela Cruz, Vicente T. Camacho, Ofero G. Taitano, Mario A. Salas Jr., Juan A. Tenorio Jr., and Elton Santos Jr.
The team is also managed by CNMI Personnel Management director Juan I. Tenorio and coached by Ike Taitano and Henry Lizama.
The resolution continued by saying that through proper planning and outstanding execution of strategies by Tenorio and under the watchful eyes of coaches Taitano and Lizama, the 2005 CNMI Junior Little League All-Stars downed their first opponent Guam by a score of 7-4; overpowered the Hong Kong All-Stars by a score of 15-0; edged the Philippine All-Stars by 14-13; and stumped the Indonesia All-Stars by a score of 17-6.
Further, the resolution stated that the battle for the championship game between the Guam All-Stars and CNMI All-Stars was hard fought as the two teams tied the score at 12—until the CNMI broke the tied game at the bottom of the seventh inning, edging their neighbors to the north by a score of 13-12 and earned the right to represent the Pacific Pool at the 2005 Junior Little League World Series in Taylor, Michigan, from Aug. 14 to Aug. 20, 2005.
Under the leadership of manager Tenorio and coaches Taitano and Lizama, the 2005 CNMI Junior Little League Baseball All Stars ended the 2005 Asia-Pacific Junior Little League Baseball Tournament with a perfect win-loss record of 5-0.
The resolution concluded by saying that the members of the Municipal Council join the people of the CNMI in extending special recognition, congratulation and commendation to the CNMI Junior All-Stars for a job well done in promoting the CNMI regionally and internationally through the sport of Little League baseball.
The resolution was certified by chairman Gregorio V. Deleon Guerrero and vice chairman David A. Indalecio and attested by secretary Antonia M. Tudela. (PR)
