The Emergency Management Office, together with the National Weather Service on Guam, advised that the small craft and high surf advisory issued yesterday morning remains in effect for Saipan, Tinian, and Rota due to a tropical depression.

According to EMO, moderate to fresh trade winds and isolated showers will prevail throughout early next week as high pressure builds north of the region.

The swells generated by persistent trade winds is producing high surf on northeast and east and southeast facing exposures.

Surf heights of 3 to 4 feet are expected with increasing wind waves. EMO expects surf to remain hazardous throughout the weekend, citing that large surf could arrive suddenly.

Due to the increase in surf heights and high risk of dangerous rip currents in the region, beachgoers, fishermen, divers, swimmers, tourists and marine tour operators are advised to avoid venturing near exposed beaches and reef lines on the north and west coasts
