What conflict of interest?
Is Cinta Kaipat being hypocritical? I hope not, but the facts may prove otherwise. She argues that because Jesse Palacios once dealt with Azmar, he holds a clear conflict of interest in his new position as chief of homestead at MPLA.
I understand Cinta and PaganWatch’s frustration with Azmar and I do sympathize with their group, but Cinta has openly supported the candidacy of Ben Fitial, who is running for the highest office in the CNMI. Among his credentials, as listed in www.cnmicovenant.com, is that he has been V.P. of Tan Holdings, president of Century Insurance and Travel, president of CTSI, among others. All of these companies are owned and operated by Tan Holdings, one of the largest companies in Micronesia. Does Cinta think that Ben Fitial, who, according to her reasoning, would have a clear conflict of interest, can fairly govern the people of the CNMI? If Cinta is giving Mr. Fitial the benefit of the doubt, why can’t she give the same consideration to Jesse Palacios? Or should we think twice about supporting Fitial? I’ll let the people decide that, but I’ll give both gentlemen the benefit of the doubt.
