Guam to host GOP BBQ at Ipao
Northern Marianas Republican Party chair Juan S. Reyes has accepted an invitation from Guam for the 2005 Republican Party candidates to partake in a pre-Labor Day picnic at Ipao Beach Park in Tumon today, Sept. 3, 2005.
The 2005 Meet-the-GOP Candidate event will begin at 11:30am and end at 5pm that day. Shelters D-1, D-2 and D-3 have already been designated for today’s gathering.
Food and refreshment will be provided, courtesy of friends and supporters of the Northern Marianas Republican Party on Guam.
Officials from the Guam Republican Party are also expected to attend the event.
Gov. Juan N. Babauta has already confirmed his presence. Rufin Inos and Frank Camacho from the BB Headquarters are part of the entourage.
Sen. Thomas “Kiyu” Villagomez will also join the group at the Ipao Beach Park with senatorial aspirant Andrew Salas of Saipan. Reyes will also be there.
“In affording our constituents the opportunity to speak directly to the candidates on their action plans for the Commonwealth in the next four years, and allowing the candidates to brief them on their accomplishments would be an excellent opportunity for both candidates and voters to be educated on important issues affecting the islands,” said Reyes. “Having this event in Guam with the participation of our Republican friends from Guam makes this event doubly beneficial for our brothers and sisters in Guam.”
He said that CNMI residents who are residing in Guam are invited to join them at Ipao Beach Park and meet not only the 2005 GOP candidates from the CNMI, but also some of Guam’s leaders.
“I look forward to being on Guam this Saturday, weather permitting,” said Reyes.
The CNMI’s general election is on Nov. 5, 2005. (PR)
