An estate administrator sued the State of Chuuk Friday at the CNMI Superior Court in his bid to enforce a Chuukese court judgment in the amount of $107,000.

Anderson Eko, administrator of the estate of Kachuo A. Eko, said the State of Chuuk has failed to pay the full amount awarded by its Supreme Court.

Eko said the court judgment ordered that payment be made by the state no later than January 1993, but only $30,000 has been paid so far.

Eko, a Chuukese residing in Hawaii, filed a civil action at the CNMI court Friday, saying that the State of Chuuk has property in the Commonwealth.

Eko’s attorney, Roy T. Chikamoto, said the state has “explicitly and implicitly waived its immunity from attachment in aid of execution” of judgment. (John Ravelo)
