Carmen Safeway Supermarket launched over the weekend its customer reward program in recognition of the community’s support over the years.

Known as Rewards Savings Value Plan, or RSVP, the program allows a customer to earn points for every $10 purchase, and a discount once the 10 slots on the RSVP card are filled.

“We give a 5-percent discount on the entire purchase. This is our way of recognizing the local community and helping them during this time,” said Carmen Safeway Supermarket president Frances L.G. Borja.

The promo kicked off on Sept. 2 at the supermarket, which is located on Beach Road in Chalan Kanoa.

Founded in 1978, the store was initially named Carmen Safeway Meitetsu. In 1982, the business name was changed to Meitetsu.

In February this year, the business was renamed Carmen Safeway Supermarket when Carmen Safeway Enterprises Inc. took over the operations from Japanese firm Meitetsu Corp.

The supermarket continues to offer the same quality products, mostly from Japan and the United States.

Carmen Safeway Supermarket is proud to be the only place on island that has a U.S.D.A.-approved in-store meat-cutting facility.

“You can find the best quality meat here. We follow very strict USDA standards so people can be assured of buying clean and safe meat products here,” said Carmen Safeway Supermarket general manager Eli Maravilla.

He said that a USDA inspector regularly visits the facility to monitor activities.

Further, the supermarket is popularly known for its superb baked products. Many hotels and restaurants get French bread from them.

Over the weekend, the supermarket set up food stations for free sampling throughout the day for customers.
