What would you consider the top three issues or concerns facing the CNMI that demand immediate action from our government leaders.
– Executive/Legislative branch should have a cohesive/unified position addressing CNMI priorities.
– To evaluate and repeal all public laws, executive orders, agency and regulations that hinder economic development priorities such as labor and immigration laws.
– To seek and entice foreign investors to infuse new cash flow in the CNMI and making CNMI once again an investors confident destination.
What is your vision for the Commonwealth? And what are the steps that must be taken to achieve that vision?
Let me offer you my vision, which I call “14 Simple Ideas”
I will:
– Promote strong & cohesive Rota leadership;
– Work cooperatively with all Rota leaders on CIP priorities;
– Seek creative financing and bond underwriters for tax-exempt municipal bond;
– Aggressively work to promote employment opportunities;
– Promote local economy from our island resources;
– Hire a grant writer to assist departments/agencies and business sectors with funding sources;
– Seek legislation to create the office for a local Municipal Treasurer;
– Make Rota island a revenue-making municipal government through the use of a Rota Free-Trade Zone;
– Establish a medical referral services in the Philippines;
– Seek off-island medical insurance coverage for all Rota residents;
– Work vigorously to promote investor confidence and bring economic development back to the island of Rota;
– Ensure harmony and true partnership amongst the senatorial districts as one commonwealth;
– Work vigorously to build on Rota a sanitized landfill site;
– Seek assistance for the construction of a water sports park and aquatic conservation facilities for our citizens and tourists.
