CABA has sights for fights
It’s time for pugs and contenders to don the gloves and come out from their corners as the CNMI Amateur Boxing Association is calling for the local sparring supporters to enter the ring and join the group in its fifth year of promoting the sweet art.
In little more than a week and a half, CABA will hold an organizational meeting with a combination of goals in place that include the election of officers and board of directors as well as to knock the organizing committee of the upcoming 2006 Micronesian Games of its feet with a proposal for the sport’s inclusion next summer.
The meeting of the mind beating takes place on Tuesday, Oct. 4 in the conference room of the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium at 6pm, and anyone interested in the sport of boxing or in becoming a member is invited to attend.
According to the association’s primary organizer Al Taitano, to qualify as a member, individuals must be over the age of 21 and have an influence in youth programs.
Taitano has been a part of many of the recent displays of left hooks and haymakers, and said that he hopes that the non-profit group can forward the cause of friendship through fighting in the area.
