MBT Junior Nationals tryouts next Tuesday
All interested in representing the Commonwealth under the CNMI or National team banner are invited to take part in the first tryout session next Tuesday at the Northern Marianas College.
This according to team head coach Rufino Aguon, who disclosed that the session will begin at 6pm and is open to anyone not over the age of 20 years before November or not competing in the ongoing 2005 Saipan Rotary Club Youth Basketball League.
After a team of 12 players is assembled, the squad will join the Saipan Rotary All Stars and possibly teams from Rota and Tinian as they represent the CNMI in the upcoming Micronesian Basketball Tournament, which will be hosted on Saipan from Nov. 20 to 26.
The tournament will feature men’s and women’s teams from Guam, Saipan, Palau, Chuuk, Pohnpei, Marshall Islands, Kiribati, Nauru, and Kosrae. Players competing in the tournament must be under the age of 21 years.
Meanwhile, the Saipan Rotary All Stars will have their first try out session today at 5pm at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium. Out of 65 players playing in the league who were invited, only 12 will be selected to make up the cast.
The team will be coached by Joe Diaz, who coaches the three G-Rollers teams as well as the Breeze. He will be assisted by Sonics coach Jesse Tudela and Sparks coach George Cruz.
