The Bank of Saipan has been selected by the CNMI Council on Developmental Disabilities as its lending partner for a $280,000 discretionary grant to provide money to persons with disabilities who need to obtain expensive technological devices.

The Bank of Saipan will assist and participate in the discretionary grant program as a permanent advisory council member and the distributor of grant funds loaned out to qualified recipients.

“Technological devices such as those that can allow a person with disability to drive a car without the use of his legs are too expensive for many to afford,” said Bank of Saipan president Jon Bargfrede. “These grant monies from this State Discretionary Grants Program will be good for our community. We are very proud to be selected by the CNMI Council on Developmental Disabilities to be the sole banking partner in this very worthwhile program…”

The funds are made available through a grant to support Trankilu Assistive Technology Low Interest Loan Program for individuals with disabilities. John D. Arriola is the chair of the board for the CNMI Council on Developmental Disabilities. (PR)
