GSM association ratifies GTA as full member
TAMUNING, Guam—The Global System for Mobile Communications Association, the worldwide trade body of the global wireless industry, ratified GTA Wireless LLC as a full member of the association last Monday, Sept. 26, at the 3GSM World Congress Asia in Singapore.
GTA received its membership certificate from GSMA’s chief marketing officer, William Gajda, at a ratification and certificate presentation ceremony at the close of the first day of the congress.
The four-person GTA delegation was headed by Andrew Gayle Jr., vice president and general manager of GTA Wireless LLC. Gayle received the certificate on the company’s behalf.
Founded in 1987, the GSMA’s goals are to promote, protect and enhance the interests of GSM mobile operators throughout the world. According to its website, at the end of July 2005, the association consisted of 680 second and third generation mobile operators and more than 150 manufacturers and suppliers. The association’s members provide mobile phone services to approaching 1.47 billion customers across more than 210 countries and territories around the world.
GTA Wireless LLC, an entity of TeleGuam Holdings doing business as GTA, provides cell phone service to Guam consumers on its TDMA network. GTA will launch its GSM service at the end of this year.
