The 2005 World Organized Rocball High School League kicked off yesterday at the Marianas High School as eight teams began their push for the coveted championship crown.

Returning to try to defend their title are Mwaliyas, who are also joined by last season’s runner up Ochobu, Black Magic, Malat, Lagooners, Just For Fun, Caropino, and B-n-S.

Malat and Black Magic were first to take center stage, opening the season with a tough battle that has yet to be completed.

The two teams have to return to finish their match today as only two sets were completed yesterday.

Black Magic came out firing and dominated the first set en route to an easy 15-5 victory.

The team, however, was not able to run away as Malat recovered and bounced back with a stronger effort in the second set to close the gap. Despite two mishaps on first serves, Malat was able to put up a strong fight and edged their opponents, 16-15.

The match was then halted as time expired and students had to return to class.
