Race, Schultz top SIS short course

Saturday’s 5th Annual Saipan International School 5K Fun Run also featured a short course for children, with Gabrielle Race and Kenyon Schultz posting the top girls and boys times.

Race finished first overall and took top honors in the girls’ 7-and-under category with a time of 15:06. Marianna Taitano was next to cross the finish line in the age group, punching in a time of 20:31 while Cassidy Majors placed third after crossing the finish line in 26:25.

For his part, Schultz turned in the second-best time overall and best in the boys’ 7-and-under category after clocking in at 16:23. He was followed by Danny Auther and Carter Smith, who posted times of 17:11 and 17:42.

Angelo Jones topped the boys’ 8-9 age group after finishing the race in 37:59, while Misaki Cramer, Andrew Johnson followed. Michah Griffin, and Jacob Jones did the buddy system and finished in second place in 43:57.

Olivia Austin ruled the girls’ 8-9 age group, resting after running for 48:09, while Raina Klaver placed second after clocking in at 48:58.

A total of 134 individuals participated in the fun run’s long and short courses.

The event was sponsored by Deloitte, Azuma, PCC Corp., XO Market, Micronesian Marine, Island Apparel, Coca Cola, McDonald’s, Ice Creamery, Avon, Hyatt Club Elan, Pacific Islands Club, Tropical Blend Spa, and Saipan Photo Lab.
