In a show of strength, Covenant Party candidates and supporters yesterday swung through the different villages of Saipan in a motorcade that stretched several miles long from front to tail.

At one point, the motorcade’s lead was already in Kagman and yet, the tail end was still at the Airport Road area far from the back road, according to Covenant Party advertising committee chair Charles Reyes, Jr.

Reyes’ conservative estimate of the total number of vehicles that participated in the motorcade was more than 600, calling the event a success.

Participants gathered at the Civic Center area in Susupe yesterday morning and began the motorcade at around 10am, with poster-filled vehicles honking their horns as they drove around the island for five hours.

“We saw people waving at us, families going out from homes to wave at us,” Reyes said. Other motorists responded positively to the Covenant Party’s political campaign by honking their horns, too.

Covenant Party candidates led by the gubernatorial tandem of Benigno Fitial and Timothy Villagomez invited the public to listen to their platform of government and attend its miting de avance today at the Civic Center’s tennis court from 10am to 3pm.

The party expects to draw hundreds of supporters in an event that has been anticipated to be festive with live band, food and refreshments.
