The organizers of the longest running triathlon in the Marianas Islands are looking to award some lucky musicians some cold hard cash for their singing and song writing abilities during the ongoing Tagaman Songwriting Contest.

More than $850 is up for grabs as the creators of the winning entry will take home $500, while the first runners-up will bag $250, and the second runners-up win $100 for providing the song that will be featured in radio and television ads, the race website (www.tagaman.com), and played several times during the 2006 Saipan Sports Fest.

The contest is open to everyone and contestants are advised that entries are to be no longer than three minutes long, should have a repeating chorus, and a catchy tune. Submissions will also be evaluated based on their originality.

The deadline to submit your entry for the Tagaman Songwriting Contest is Tuesday, Nov. 15, at 5pm, and all submissions should be made at the Marianas Visitors Authority office in San Jose.

All submissions become property of Taga Inc., but contestants interested in receiving their entries after the judging must include a self-addressed stamped envelope or come down to the MVA to pick it up.
