Scheduled detonation on Rota set for today
The Department of Public Safety with the coordination of Emergency Management Office, Office of the Governor, and in conjunction with COMNAVMAR Guam, would like to inform the general public that the schedule detonation operation on Rota that was cancelled the other day is now scheduled for today, Oct. 31, from 11:30am to 1:30pm.
The general location of this activity will be on the island of Rota at the As Matmos Cliff with latitude 14 degrees 11.7 minutes north and longitude 145 degrees 16.6 minute east and 5,000 feet above seas level (ASL) on all quadrants.
Due to the danger imposed by this activity, Gov. Juan N. Babauta is advising the public, especially commercial pilots, tour operators, residents and fishermen, to stay at least 1.0 miles from the area during the time and date indicated.
