Congratulation to Philip
I was very much pleased to hear that Philip Mendiola-Long won the Governor’s Humanities Council Award for Preservation of CNMI History. We feel he much deserved the honor since all the work he did to host the 60th Anniversary Event on Tinian between the Americans and the Japanese. He will long be remembered for his untiring efforts that are appreciated by both the Americans and the Japanese. My wife and I were on Tinian during the event, but without the efforts of Phil we would not have been able to attend. Thank you again for making the good choice.

To Philip Mendiola-Long:
I am overjoyed to learn that you have received the Humanities Award for Preserving CNMI History. Congratulations! You are very deserving and it is very satisfying to know that you have been recognized for your contributions.
The one-week program you organized and managed, “The Commemoration of the 60th Anniversary of the Atomic Missions to Hiroshima and Nagasaki,” was an outstanding success. As a former B-29 crewmember, I was happy and honored to participate in this historic event. On behalf of my colleagues of the 5th Squadron, 9th Bomb Group, 313th Wing, I thank you and wish you continued success in your endeavors.

Congratulations on your Historical Events nomination. Sorry for all the flak that you are receiving on the monies you had to spend bringing us back over there. Steve McCloud sent me copies of the Saipan Tribune, so I knew what was going on. Keep that petition on line and we will try to get it moving again.
