Black Magic bounces back by juicing out Caropinos
Black Magic bounced back with a fury and picked up its second win in three games yesterday, beating Caropinos, 46-29, in the ongoing 2005 World Organized Rocball High School League at the Marianas High School Gymnasium.
With the memory of their loss against Mwaliyas still fresh in their minds, the Black Magic smackers wasted no time Wednesday and unleashed their fury with a dominating first set performance. The team bruised the ball at will and played solid defense to take a 15-4 victory.
The Magic crew was not satisfied and continued to pound away in the second set. Despite a mishap on first serves, the team thrilled all in attendance when Julius Saito and Dean Matthew connected on consecutive goals.
The crew still had a lot of magic left and after getting another point, got another goal courtesy of a kill by Dior Jones. The three goals spearheaded Black Magic’s attack as they strolled to a 17-9 win, resulting in a commanding 32-13 lead in the overall tally.
Unfortunately for Caropinos, the Black Magic was not done by a long shot and though still had troubles with first serves, converted on aces and kees to cruise to a 16-5 win.
At that point, Black Magic had ballooned their lead to a whopping 30 points, 48-18.
Time expired and both teams returned to the court yesterday, but the trend remained the same as Black Magic cruised to seal the deal. The Caropinos put up a stiffer push, scoring 11 points, but it was overmatched by Saito, Matthew, Jones, and the rest of the Black Magic crew as they drilled in 18 points to juice out.
Saito finished as the game’s heavy hitter with 11 points on three aces, a kee, and a goal, while J.J. Maliti and Jones supported him well with 10 and nine points. Maliti had two aces, a xunk, and two kees, while Jones pounded away for two aces, a kee, and a goal.
Matthew Iguel led Caropinos with an ace and two kees for six points.
High school Rocball action resumes on Monday with Malat taking on the Lagooners.
