Broad daylight didn’t stop a person from taking off with a Toyota Previa van that he stole from a car shop compound during lunch hour last Thursday.

Department of Public Safety spokesperson Catherine Sheu reported that police received a call from Auto Marine Inc. that one of its vans was missing from its compound on Navy Hill.

Sheu said based on preliminary reports, the stolen vehicle was a white, 1996 Toyota Previa van. She said when DPS received the report, they immediately sent out staff to patrol the island to try and locate the missing vehicle. DPS quickly relayed an all-point bulletin to police personnel on duty.

The police officers assigned to the Patrol Section spotted the vehicle with the reported plate number that same day and recovered the missing van. Sheu said a male juvenile suspect was arrested for theft. (Marconi Calindas)
