It’s time for the lords and ladies of leaping to lace up the sneakers and stretch the gams as the Northern Marianas Islands Volleyball Association is holding their first round of open tryouts for the upcoming 2006 Micro Games this weekend.

According to NMIVA secretary Steve Nguyen, all bumpers, setters, and spikers interested in representing the CNMI when the games come to Saipan for the first time since 1990 need to show up to the Northern Mariana College Gymnasium this Saturday, Nov. 12.

The future men’s team will be scouted by NMIVA members from 9am to 12pm while the women will be observed from 1 to 4pm. This will not be the last time that scouts will test the talents, as NMIVA organizers said that there will be two additional tryout sessions.

The information for those sessions will be announced at a later date, but those serious about donning the local gear when the best of the region comes to Saipan should make plans to be present at all events.

For more information about the tryouts, contact NMIVA vice president Taula Peter by calling 483-2493 or via email at taulap@gmail.com, or contact Micro Games indoor men’s volleyball coach Nan Intharaluk by calling 235-6231 ext. 5147.
