Three teams will be crowned as the Northern Youth Basketball Association Tournament holds title games in its three divisions this afternoon at the Garapan Basketball Court.

The road to the finals was exciting as officials put their heads together to squeeze a bunch of games into just five days, not including today’s bouts.

Yesterday, the Capitol Hill Stars continued to have their way and posted their third win in as many outings with an 82-48 victory over the Garapan Rollers III in Division III action. The Stars controlled the bout from beginning to end to close the elimination round with a perfect record.

Meanwhile, the G-Rollers I also put up an impressive performance and downed the Bwibwiis without trouble, 61-27. G-I led by a mile after the first half, 35-8, and closed with a bang for the 34-point victory margin, with Jericho Cruz and Don Teregeyo leading the way with 12 and 11 points.

The other game that was concluded before press time featured the Matansa Sparks streaking past the Sugar King Shooting Stars, 36-21.

More games were played yesterday, however, results were not available as of press time. The playoff round began last night and continues this morning before the championship round in the afternoon.

Intense action was also showcased on Friday as eight games were played.

In the opener, Robert Naraja and Joemar Tumaquip brought their A game and led the G-Rollers II to a 74-60 victory over the Matansa Sparks II.

The G-Rollers I followed with the same result as they defeated the Sparks in Division II, 70-28, as Cruz cruised for 14 points.

The Capitol Hill Stars then had a good showing and stopped the Shooting Stars, 39-25, in Division I, while the Stars of Division II were not able to match their sister team’s performance as they faltered to the G-Rollers II, 37-59.

The Sparks then beat G-III, 83-56, in Division III, but their Division I crew did not have the same fate as they fell to G-I, 31-11.

The Stars of Division II recovered before the day was over and edged the Bwibwiis, 55-53, while the Sparks slipped past G-II, 50-48, in the same division.
