Sluggers can again join the fight against crime as the 4th Annual NMI Crime Stopper Slow Pitch Softball Tournament will be held on Jan. 28 and 29 at the Tan Ge Softball Field.

This according to a statement from the NMI Crime Stoppers, which said interested teams must register early as only 10 slots will be allotted for the tournament.

“The first 10 teams to enter and pay their entry fee will be entered in the tournament,” Crime Stoppers said.

Teams must pay an entry fee of $250 before Jan. 18. The fee will increase to $350 after the mentioned date.

The team that survives and wins the championship will receive $300, a trophy and more. The team name will also be engraved on the Perpetual Tournament Trophy.

First runner-up will receive $200 and a trophy, third place will receive $150 and a trophy, while third and fourth runners up will receive trophies. The top three teams may also receive other prizes.

A coaches meeting will be held on Jan. 25, with the time and venue to be announced at a later date.

“This is the time when the rules will be discussed and the team bracket drawing will be conducted,” Crime Stoppers said.

Meanwhile, the tournament will again feature the Player’s Home Run Derby, which will be held at noon on Jan. 29. Players who prove to be top sluggers in the derby will receive prizes, with the champion leaving with $50.

Interested players for the derby must pay a fee of $20.

Raffle tickets will also be sold for $1 per ticket during the tournament and a drawing will be held for prizes.

“Home Run Derby entry fee money will also go to the raffle drawing tickets. If you enter the Home Run Derby for $20, we will put 20 tickets into the raffle drawing for you,” Crime Stoppers said.

The grand prize raffle prizes are one ticket to Manila and one ticket to Hong Kong, with one winner per ticket. The prizes are sponsored by Continental Airlines.

Entry and waiver forms are available at Car Quest in Chalan Kanoa. Fees can also be paid at Car Quest and checks must be made payable to NMI Crime Stoppers.

Continental Airlines is the exclusive and official airline of the NMI Crime Stoppers Softball Tournament. Continental Airlines employees, dependents and affiliates are not eligible to win Continental prizes and the prize letters cannot be redeemed for any other events sponsored by Continental Airlines.
