The Tanapag No Zone earned a comeback win over one of the Saipan Major League’s toughest teams in the Fall competition as they sank the Pirates, 7-5, at the Kan Pacific Baseball Field in Marpi on Sunday for their second win of the season.

Pitcher Jun Camacho went the distance for the northern boys as he allowed five runs off of 11 hits and fanned seven through nine innings atop the mound, but he didn’t have to do all of the work by himself.

Shortstop Jordan Suel wielded the big bat for the Tanapag smack attack by hitting 3-for-4 with three singles and a run batted in. He also showed off his base running talents by stealing a base and scoring twice.

Catcher Henry Iguel knew how to run the bases as well by scoring twice in the game. Iguel went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles, while teammate Clint Quitugua went 3-for-5 with a single and a pair of doubles.

Tanapag (2-6) raised a few eye brows by jumping out to a 3-0 lead after three and a half, but they followed a strong start by stalling to allow the Pirates to climb back into the game with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the lead to 3-2.

The Pirates scored another pair in the bottom of the six to take a 4-3 lead, but the Tanapag nine fought back to regain the lead by answering back with two runs in their next at bats, 5-4.

From there it was all gravy as Tanapag piled on another pair in the top of the ninth inning for insurance and the Pirates were only able to manage a single tally in their final ups to fall to 6-2 on the season.

The Pirates lost out on a key opportunity to advance in the league standings as the rival Hustlers (6-2) were forced to forfeit to the D-9ers (2-6) due to difficulties securing the registration fees on time.
