An award ceremony was held Monday at the Aging Center for the man’amko who completed Internet and computer classes for FY 2004-2005.

The ceremony took place between 10am and 12pm and awards were presented to the man’amko by Aging Office coordinator Walter Manglona, project coordinator Jean C. Cruz, and Joeten-Kiyu Library director Kevin Latham.

The man’amko completed computer and Internet courses and lessons given by. Cruz. The objectives of the classes were:

– To teach the man’amko how to use and learn the basics of both the computer and the Internet;

– To familiarize the man’amko with modern technology.

– To teach the man’amko how to communicate with the outside world through email and to learn about current events and surf websites.

– To teach them how to downloading pictures and files, type with Microsoft Office, and use a digital camera.

The classes were part of an ongoing project of the Joeten-Kiyu Library’s Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Competitive Grant, which is applied for each spring. (PR)
