Farmers set poll for new SWCD administrators
There will be a general farmers meeting and an election for the new Saipan and Northern Islands SWCD Administrators for the next three fiscal years on Feb. 8, 2006, at the Kagman Komunidat Center in Kagman.
Every third year the three Soil and Water Conservation Districts, Saipan and Northern Islands SWCD, Tinian SWCD, and Luta SWCD hold election in February to elect District Board Administrators for the next three years.
This year marks the beginning of another three-year term for the District Board Administrators who will be elected by the general farmers, in accordance with Public Law 4-44 that established the Soil and Water Conservation Districts in the CNMI. The election term is for FY2006 to 2009.
The Saipan and Northern Islands Soil and Water Conservation District said it needs District Board Administrators who are capable and motivated to take a lead role in developing the following:
– Develop overall policy and long-term objectives of the District on areas such as personnel management, technical assistance, and financial assistance to meet the needs of the District.
– Develop annual plan of work or long-range plan of work (minimum 5) five years, as guide to the District in accomplishing is primary purpose that is to protect, promote and conserve the CNMI’s natural resources.
– Ability to work with District staff in implementing annual plan of work, programs, projects and other activities of the conservation District.
The meeting and election will be hosted by Ignacio T. Dela Cruz, acting Secretary of Lands and Natural Resources, and will take place on Feb. 8, from 6pm to 8pm.
Topics for discussion include the Election of new Administrators for FY2006 to 2009, Conservation Districts Function, the Kagman Watershed Project and the Environmental Quality Incentive Program.
