The Society of Human Resource Management has invited Merchant Thompson, Substance Abuse professional from the Community Guidance Center, to speak on Anger Management and Workplace Violence on Thursday, Jan. 26.

Thompson’s program will provide a forum for learning and discussion on the causes and prevention of anger and violence in the workplace. This program will provide managers and HR professionals with information that will assist them in minimizing occurrences and handling situations of anger and violence.

“This forum will help you learn more about potential sources of anger and violence in the workplace, provide methods to manage and resolve conflicts leading to anger and violence and provide community assistance to managers, HR professionals and employees,” said the Society in a statement.

Thompson’s presentation will be discussed during the morning session from 8:30am to 11:30am.

Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Villagomez will be presiding over the installation of the Chapter’s 2006 Officers. He will discuss the Fitial administration’s plans to enhance the Commonwealth’s economic situation and business environment. His discussion will include employment issues of concern to management and HR professionals. He will also discuss the important role of HR in the change process and what they can do to help make positive changes occur. Additionally, the lieutenant governor will provide an opportunity for questions and answers relative to the discussion.

All SHRM members are urged to join their peers for this current and informative conference. Non-members in the business community, whether owners, managers or human resource professionals, are invited to learn more about the Society and to improve their human resource knowledge through the conference.
