MEDICAID TO VISIT TINIAN, ROTA

The Medicaid staff will be making their quarterly visit to Tinian and Rota to conduct the Medicaid quarterly eligibility intake activities. The schedules are as follows:

On Tinian: Jan. 25, 8:30am – 4pm, Tinian Health Center

On Rota: Jan. 26, 8am – 4:30pm, Rota Aging Center

On Rota: Jan. 27, 8am – 2:30pm, Rota Aging Center

Anyone interested in applying for Medicaid or renewing your Medicaid eligibility are urged to visit these locations and dates. For more information, call the Medicaid office at 664-4880/82. (PR)

CNMI ASSOCIATION FOR FAMILIES WITH DISABILITIES MEETING RESET

The CNMI Association for Families with Disabilities wishes to inform its members and interested volunteers that the meeting for this Saturday, Jan. 28, has been re-scheduled to Saturday, Feb. 4, at 10am at the Family Hope Center in Dandan. Interested volunteer are welcome to attend. (PR)

PRAXIS SEMINAR ON FEB. 1

A Praxis seminar for high school language arts teachers preparing for the Praxis II English Language and Literature Content Knowledge exam will begin on Feb. 1 at 5pm at Saipan Southern High School Room A-102.

FREE SEMINAR ON WOMEN IN LEADERSHIP

Sen. Maria “Frica” Pangelinan is sponsoring a free seminar on women in leadership to be conducted by Dr. Tusi Avegalio of the University of Hawaii on Jan. 26 from 5:30pm to 7pm at Pacific Gardenia Hotel.

Dr. Avegalio will examine compelling characteristics of synchronicity, multi-tasking, and intuitiveness that are essential for effective leadership into the increasingly dynamic 21st century, qualities that females have in disproportion over males.

Additionally, understanding the process and importance of critical mass in venues ranging from elective office through the workplace, to social movements will also be examined. “Women are changing the world due to their ability to shift easier, adapt, change, and benefit from the turmoil of rapid change. Those qualities are a major leading edge in defining the future,” said the lawmaker.

PSS SESAP ON JAN. 27

The Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands Public School System Special Education Program will be conducting a Special Education State Advisory Panel meeting on Jan. 27 from 8am to 10am at Hyatt Regency Saipan.

The meeting is open to the public. The agenda for the meeting will be passed out during the event. (PR)

SMALL CLAIMS MATTERS RESET

All small claims matters originally scheduled for Jan. 5, 2006, in Courtroom 220A of the CNMI Superior Court are rescheduled to Feb. 16, 2006. The notice was issued on Dec. 22 by Clerk of Court Bernadita A. Sablan. (PR)

TAX AMNESTY DEADLINE COMING UP

The Division of Revenue and Taxation, Department of Finance, encourages all delinquent taxpayers with outstanding tax obligations to visit the division to avail themselves of the tax amnesty program. The deadline for applying for tax amnesty is March 27, 2006.

The special tax returns for the Tax Amnesty Program, under Public Law 14-90 were made available on Saipan beginning Oct. 17, 2005, on Tinian beginning Oct. 18, 2005, and Rota, beginning Oct. 20, 2005.

The division wishes to inform the public that it will use its full authority after the amnesty filing deadline to enforce collection on all outstanding tax obligations from taxpayers. (PR)

Students, beginning 3rd. quarter, Home Room will be your first period teacher everyday. Day B is still your first period teacher from 8:00-8:15. Attendance will be taken, the bulletin will be read, and virtues will be discussed. 1st and 5th periods will begin at 8:20am. (PR)
