Immigration agents arrested yesterday a worker who allegedly overstayed for more than four years in the CNMI.

Rogelio Lozada Batas, 40, was arrested in San Vicente at 6:43am, according to documents filed in Superior Court.

Immigration investigator Richard T. Lizama said Batas, a Filipino, was issued a nonresident worker’s entry permit that expired on Dec. 2, 2000.

Lizama said Batas failed to submit a renewal or expiration transfer application after the expiration of his permit.

Lizama said the respondent has no pending case before the CNMI Department of Labor or the U.S. Labor.

“Batas [has] overstayed for more than four years without a valid entry permit,” the investigator said.

Lizama said the worker has intentionally eluded Immigration and has repeatedly failed to depart from the CNMI.

Labor records show that Batas used to be an auto repairer in 1999. His previous employer was Louise M. Diaz. (Ferdie de la Torre)
