A man accused of punching his wife in the mouth entered a guilty plea yesterday.

Teksiter Sachuo pleaded guilty to assault and battery.

Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman accepted Sachuo’s plea and sentenced the defendant to one year in jail, all suspended except for three days.

Wiseman gave the defendant credit for the three days he had already served in jail.

Wiseman placed the defendant on one-year probation and required him to pay a $250 fine, $25 in court assessment fee plus probation fee.

Sachuo was ordered to donate $100 to the Battered Women’s Shelter and write a letter of apology to his wife.

Police said the couple had an argument on Oct. 21, 2005 after the wife caught the defendant calling his girlfriend in China.

While they were arguing in the car, the defendant punched his wife in the mouth.

The wife then insisted on getting off and, as she was stepping out of the vehicle, the defendant gunned the motor and drove off, causing the victim to fall into the pavement, police said. (Ferdie de la Torre)
