Chiefs shoot down Indians
Another week belonged to the Chiefs as the team did what it needed to do to beat the Indians, 59-44, in the ongoing Budweiser-Bud Light Bowlliards Tournament at the USSP Club in Garapan Monday night.
With four players breaking into double figures, the Chiefs managed to cruise past their opponents for their third win in four weeks.
The bout got off to a slow start with the Chiefs holding just a 2-1 lead after the first frame.
All that changed though as the Chiefs heated up and began to pull away. Bern Ikeda ignited the charge as he drilled in nine points in the second frame, five better than the Indians’ Reek Rengiil to take an 11-5 lead.
While the Indians continued to struggle, Taylor Watanabe and Chris Chlarson kept the Chiefs going as they pocketed nine points apiece during their turn at the table.
Only Mei Jin Rengiil put up a strong push for the Indians as she knocked in nine balls during her try, but in the end, the Chiefs’ firepower was just too much for the Indians to handle.
Mei Jin was the only player from the Indians to come close to recording a strike, while the Chiefs had three players almost accomplish the feat in Watanabe, Chlarson, and Ikeda.
Ikeda and Chlarson led the Chiefs with 15 points apiece, while Watanabe and John Mongami supported with 13 and 12 points. Baulenchong chipped in four points.
Mei Jin and Ron Chisato led the Indians with 13 and nine points, while Annie Tesiro and Rose Phillips contributed eight points apiece. Reek Rengiil added six points.
With the win, members of the Chiefs went home with prizes courtesy of Budweiser.
